Bamboo fabric is sourced from the bamboo plant. Did you know that bamboo is one of the most sustainable and renewable resources in the world? Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth (it is the Guinness World Record holder!) and is one of the few plants that can keep up with deforestation. Bamboo only takes 5 years to mature compared to 30-40 years for trees.

Bamboo yarn is produced by pulverising the bamboo stalks and then regenerating the cellulose from the bamboo into a smooth yarn.

Bamboo Body clothing is made with organically grown bamboo. Our bamboo crop is grown without the use of pesticides, fertilisers or chemicals. No irrigation is required and there is no genetic modification. Our bamboo fibre is OEKO-Tex100 certified which means there is no trace of harmful chemicals in the end product! Bamboo fabric has amazing moisture-wicking properties that help keep your body fresh and dry. It allows moisture to evaporate into the air quickly by pulling moisture away from the skin. For this reason, we highly recommend swapping out your synthetic, or even cotton underwear for bamboo for all its moisture wicking properties.

5. Bamboo clothing is great for those with skin sensitivities

Another benefit to bamboo clothing is that it is extremely smooth, soft and naturally hypoallergenic - perfect for those who suffer from allergies. Our bamboo fabric is OEKO-Tex100 certified which means that our bamboo underwear is free from harmful chemicals and residues. People with skin sensitivities such as eczema and psoriasis report that our bamboo clothing does not irritate their skin like most other fabrics. 

6. Our Bamboo Clothing has a UPF50+ rating, which is the equivalent of wearing SPF50+ Sunscreen.

Bamboo Body clothing has been tested by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) and we are pleased to announce that our fabric has a UPF rating of 50+ excellent. Sun protective clothing acts as a barrier between you and the sun's rays, similar to sunscreen! 

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and is the rating given to clothing and textiles for its broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays. UVB (Ultraviolet B) rays are responsible for producing sunburn. The UVA (Ultraviolet A) rays penetrate more deeply into the skin and play a greater role in premature skin aging changes including wrinkle formation.

As we age, our skin becomes thinner which gives us a greater risk of getting skin cancer and serious skin conditions. This type of aging can be preventative with sun protective clothing!
