Clothing that doesn't cost the Earth

Bamboo Body clothing is made sustainably with the deepest respect for both our planet and its people. From the raw materials we use to how we deliver to your door; we take every opportunity to reduce our impact on the environment.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, including the way we design our collections. We consider the entire life cycle of a product from the materials used to the way the garment will be worn and then disposed of.

- Our collection is not trend driven. It is simple and classic. We design everyday essentials in staple wardrobe colours

- We introduce a limited run of new colours and styles each season to help keep things fresh, however our new releases are strongly driven by customer feedback and requests.

- Our clothing is trans-seasonal. Most styles can be worn all year round.

- We use our seasonal lookbooks to showcase how our clothing can be mixed and matched to create different outfits. With simple, well fitting styles we encourage our customers to create a capsule wardrobe to minimise clothing consumption.

- We never discount our core range. The only time we will put a style on sale is if it is a discontinued line. We don't want people to buy just for the sake of it. We want people to see the value of buying clothes built to survive the test of time and ever-changing trends.

At Bamboo Body we love bamboo! Bamboo fabric is the core of our business and is the main fibre in all of our garments.

Did you know bamboo is one of the most sustainable and renewable resources in the world? Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth (it is the Guinness World Record holder!) and is one of the few plants that can keep up with deforestation. Bamboo only takes 5 years to mature compared to 30-40 years for trees.

Our bamboo crop comes with the tick of approval from the Forest Stewardship Council. The FSC provides the gold standard in environmental forest certification and promotes the responsible management of the world's forests, ensuring that the harvest of timber does not destroy habitats of protected species or take away precious resources from the people and economies that depend on them.

We endeavour to use sustainable and biodegradable fabrics and trims. You may have noticed our buttons made from bamboo, coconut shell or mother of pearl shell?

The pressure of more, faster and cheaper is chronically unsustainable. The Fashion Industry has been one of the worst when it comes to producing waste. It is not uncommon for a garment to be worn once and then sent to landfill... Fast fashion anyone?

When we started Bamboo Body in 2005 there were very few sustainable clothing brands. Not many people were aware of the negative impact the textile industry was having on the environment, or of the social toll of unethical clothing production.

Bamboo Body take the welfare of the people in our production line very seriously. We have a long standing relationship with our clothing factory in China and we are committed to the wellbeing of all employees. Our clothing factories are regularly audited. Our factories do not employ workers under the age of 18, and the working conditions and pay are fair and above National standards.

Our Australian HQ and factory operations are certified by Ethical Clothing Australia.

For over 18 years, Bamboo Body used simple brown paper packaging and branded recycled cardboard sleeves in our constant commitment to reduce plastic waste and pollution. Our customers always appreciated receiving their items neatly wrapped in tissue paper, with love and care.

In 2024, after careful consideration and research, we knew it was time to make a switch. We’ve introduced 100% biodegradable and compostable eco-mailers, reflecting our philosophy to always learn, evolve, and improve. This new packaging is kinder to the environment, more practical, and cost-effective. What hasn’t changed is the attention and care we put into wrapping our parcels.

Our packaging is designed to be re-used. If you need to return a garment to Bamboo Body, please re-use the packaging your parcel arrived in. If you have no need to re-use the eco-mailer, it can be composted in your home compost bin or through commercial composting.

We are also committed to using sustainable alternatives to harvesting Ancient and Endangered Forests. All the wood, paper, or bamboo products we use, including our swing tags, catalogues, packaging, and paper, are either recycled or FSC certified.

Beyond the Clothes Rack

It's not just our clothes and production processes that are better for the environment. We are eco-conscious in our day-to-day business environment too. We are always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment and reduce, re-use, re-cycle and re-purpose is built into our daily business practices!

We are committed to reducing waste and being plastic free. Our garments are not individually wrapped in plastic, our packaging is plastic free and even our pick bins are made from recycled plastic.

We believe all the little things add up. All products we consume from toilet paper and cleaning products to furniture and equipment are sourced from sustainable and ethical suppliers.

Bamboo Body and all employees give back to the community through volunteer work and charities. Bamboo Body supports numerous charities including WWF, Animals Australia, Plan International, Green Peace.
