Style Me Navy

Date Posted:23 July 2020

Navy is the colour of elegance and sophistication.

The foundation stone in your wardrobe – Navy. Navy is the colour of elegance and sophistication. It also conveys stability, intelligence and conservatism. In this week’s blog we’re helping you style your favourite navy Bamboo pieces and what colours suit it best.

Crisp White
Pairing crisp white with navy is a no-brainer. No matter how you style it, either with a plain tee or structured blouse, it’s going to look killer. Below we went with the effortless weekend look and teamed our Navy Softline Slouch Pants with our Ada Boatneck Top in White. These Softline Pants also coordinate well with a boxy, relaxed tee tied at the waist side, making it stop at the hip for a balanced look. Pop a tight white slip under for sporty layering or extra warmth. For a more summery, bohemian vibe, our Lana Skirt in Navy goes beautifully with a laidback white billowy blouse and tan accessories.

Black & Navy
The most undervalued colour combination, yet the best one yet – Black & Navy. And yes, you can wear navy with black, there are no rules in fashion anymore. If you're a 50+ woman, wearing black on black can sometimes look a little overwhelming and harsh against the face so breaking it up is key, and navy actually lifts the skin tone!

Staff favourites, the Relaxed Boatneck in Navy and our Double Layered Tube Skirt in Black are the perfect pair for your girl boss work look in both cooler and warmer months. Layer it up with stockings, our L/S Layering TopWaterfall Cardigan and black ankle boots.

These navy and black combinations break up the harshness of black yet still keeps it chic and sophisticated.

Navy - The New Neutral
Neutrals and navy go hand in hand and is the greatest combination for transeasonal weather. If you prefer to stick to a neutral palette then choose shades like beige, bone and tan. While our new styles in Bone are on the way, check out our favourite netural pieces here. These neutral tones can also act as a base layer if you want to add a pop of colour.

Make It Shady
Whether it's baby blue, denim-blue, washed out blue or french blue, layering like shades together is always going to look elegant and effortless. Make sure you keep it simple and stick with block colours instead of creating an optical illusion and pairing it with prints.

A pair of dark denim jeans and our Carter Tunic Top or Shell Top are a good example. On the other hand, a washed out blue denim jacket, a relaxed baby blue tee (Jesse Singlet) and navy laidback pants, like our Pocket Pants, is a great ensemble. To tone down the look and keep it balanced, make sure your accessories are neutral to not overdo it. Accessories in nude, black or white can elevate your look.

Have fun with this one and play with the blue hue and see what works for you! Keep an eye out for two new blue colourways hitting Bamboo Body in time for Spring.

Stone Cold Greys
Grey is the perfect compliment to navy. We suggest you play with cool and soft greys rather than a dark charcoal to help lift the skin tone.

With a navy and black outfit, a soft grey throw is your best accessory - see our Knitted Poncho in Soft Marle. Equalling as a poncho, scarf and wrap this versatile piece adds elegance, interest and warmth to any outfit. If you find yourself wearing dark colours head to toe and don't feel like wearing colour, a simple grey basic can break it up, like our Katia Top in Grey Marle and Long Sleeve Ruched Tee in Light Grey Marle.

French Red
For major impact, show off your navy with a pop of french girl red or burgundy. If you prefer a vibrant pop of colour, orange and rust look great too!

Our Sophie Top in Red matched back with our Softline Slouch Pants in Navy create the perfect casual look, just pop on a pair of white sneakers for play. For a toned down look, our Ribbed Pants in Burgundy teamed with our Carter Tunic Top in Navy (tie at the waist to create balance), make a grey transeasonal combo and doubles as a work to weekend outfit.

Keep your eye out for styles in rust coming soon in our Spring Collection.
