Base Layering

Date Posted:6 August 2020

While we all wait in suspense for Spring to blossom and the new arrivals to bloom, we need to brace ourselves for the most intense month yet - August. It's the most windy month and mornings are colder than ever. And let's face it, the tail end of winter can be the most difficult period to dress for.

The key to looking stylish this winter isn't about statement coats or accessories, it's about basics and the art of layering. Luckily we have you sorted with Bamboo basics. Our bamboo fabric is thermo-regulating meaning it adjusts to your body temperature; you'll be warm and comfortable outside and won't overheat while indoors (we know this is everyone's major concern when dressing for winter).

Let these five styles be your winter go-to for staying warm and chic (without the bulky layering look) for the rest of the season. They're also key pieces for those transeasonal months when the weather is unpredictable.

Bamboo Turtle Neck Top
Do we even need to convince you why you need a turtle neck? It's the ultimate layering piece. The trusty turtle neck is a foundation piece in all winter wardrobes. They're cozy, thin, stylish and practical; everything you want in a winter staple! Whether it's worn alone with a pair of your favourite jeans and pumps or teamed with a structued blazer / coat it's always going to look stylish.

Long Sleeve Layering Top / Christina Top

Long sleeve tee's are your cold weather best friends. Our long sleeve bamboo tee's are so soft and comfortable you'll want to sleep in them.

Our L/S Layering Top is fitted and made from pure bamboo viscose, perfect if you prefer thin layering. On the other hand, our Christina Top is slightly more relaxed and has blend of organic cotton and bamboo, keeping you that little bit warmer.

The best thing about our long sleeve tees is that they are still chic enough to wear on their own if you start to peel off layers throughout the day.

Leggings! The most genius pair of pants ever invented. I personally love wearing them everywhere, whether it be to yoga, in the office or out to dinner paired with a billowy blouse. If you prefer to cover the hips, we suggest experimenting with different shaped flowy, oversized tops and blouses. Also change it up and play with different colours. Our BB leggings come in classic black, chocolate and navy

For a more sophisticated look, pull the leggings down slightly so they aren't fitted around your crotch.

Lola Bamboo Slip
Basic dress slips are also winters saviour. You may think this is the furthest thing from a winter basic but paired with a relaxed sweater, tee or shirt tied up at the waist will make you think otherwise. Because this slip is fitted and made from thermo-regulating bamboo, it will keep your bodice warm all season long.

I'm picturing this dress-slip styled as a skirt with a relaxed knit, stockings and cute black boots. With this look, the dress-slip will keep your torso and legs warm and comfortable.

Waterfall Cardigan
A beautifully shaped cardigan is a great staple to wear under tee's and turtlenecks. Our Waterfall Cardigan has a relaxed shape with a generous amount of bamboo fabric that drapes beautifully around the front of the bodice, waist and hips. It also has extra long sleeves (ahh-mazing!), perfect for covering cold hands or scrunching it up the arm.
